Hecate's Spell

This afternoon, we have on stage: Diana, Eugenia, Ana, Catherine and Savita.

Jenny Madeleine

Jenny Madeleine started belly dancing at the age of 16, following the footsteps of her mother who runs the Oasis Dance Centre in Hong Kong. Jenny has been dancing and performing belly dance for more than 12 years and teaches beginner classes in Oval and Camberwell, London.

She is dancing to a rendition of the classic ‘Bitwannes Beek,’ meaning ‘You’re always with me.’ This performance is a challenge for her, as it’s one of the first choreographies she learned from her first teacher Karina B. Although she has performed it many times before, this rendition marks a new chapter in her growth as a dancer. It’s not just about following the steps—it's about infusing the choreography with her own personality, and style.

Akanksha

Akanksha is originally from India and started her belly dancing journey 7 years ago in Hong Kong with Oasis Dance Centre. She then actively took up learning dance and committed to it under the guidance of Master Anna Lam, founder of Annasaba Dance & Performance Academy in Hong Kong, completing her Choreography and Teacher Training Certification. For Akanksha, dance is an integral part of life which brings happiness and celebrates feminine energy. She is now continuing her bellydance journey in London, growing and learning from the inspiring community here.

Zayna

Zayna is proof that it’s never too late to follow your passion. A beginner belly dancer, she discovered this beautiful art form later in life and quickly realised it was more than just movement; it was a celebration of self-love, expression, and freedom. Zayna instantly fell in love.

After years of feeling stuck within her body, dance has helped give her the confidence to truly and fully embrace herself.

Under the guidance of her teacher Ariya, she first performed as part of a group. Now, she steps into the spotlight for her solo debut, a powerful and personally meaningful milestone in her journey.

Performing to a Mejance, a dynamic and expressive entrance piece, Zayna hopes to inspire others to silence their doubts, take that first step, and dive into what makes their soul come alive—because the best time to start is always now.

Ayse

Ayse also known as @Ayna.Oryantal is a dancer from Istanbul living in London. Today she will be performing to Sultana.

Victoria

Victoria is a professional dancer based in London who has been dancing for over a decade. A former member of the Arab Quarter dance troupe, she loves to explore all the nuances of Egyptian and Turkish styles, including their vibrant folklore. For this edition of Bellyquarter Victoria is performing Egyptian folklore with the melaya, a piece of traditional women's clothing repurposed as a prop for a character dance portraying an Alexandrian girl. This piece represents "challenge" for her because she has been working on it hot on the heels of competing in the Fantasia live tabla solo competition last month and she is performing it in a competition later this week in Majorca.
